If left untreated, neck pain can become even more painful and debilitating. The underlying condition of neck pain needs to be diagnosed and treated long before it reaches becomes chronic. If you’re experiencing neck pain, we at Dr. Austin’s Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab can help.
As chiropractors, we have extensive experience in helping neck pain suffers improve their condition and alleviate pain through chiropractic manipulation, supplemented by prescribed exercises. As a holistic health science, chiropractic care avoids the use of invasive surgery and risky prescription drugs, employing techniques that have proven effective in restoring movement and reducing the pain of neck conditions, no matter what their origin.
There are five major sources of neck pain, according to the Mayo Clinic:
When you visit your chiropractor, you’ll first have a complete evaluation, with a thorough examination of your neck and spine. We’ll take a complete medical history and discuss your symptoms with you. We’ll assess the range of motion of your neck, and ask you’re feeling pain in the neck, what degree of pain, and if that pain radiates down your arm into your hand or fingers, or if there’s numbness or tingling in your shoulder or arm.
Your chiropractor uses various types of manipulations and exercises use to relieve stiffness, strengthen the area, and restore normal functioning to your neck. These treatments are often supplemented by the application of cold or heat to the affected area. Deep tissue massage may also do much to further relieve your pain and restore range of motion to your neck.
Neck pain can sometimes be symptomatic of a more serious problem. Be alert for any degree of numbness or loss of strength in your arms or hands, and for pain shooting through your shoulder or down your arm. Don’t dismiss these symptoms, but instead take careful note of them and alert our team at Dr. Brian Austin's Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab to the specifics of their location, severity and duration. Note which if any movements of your head or neck either ease the pain or make it worse. The more information you share with us, the better we can help you. Only after we’ve consulted with you, explained our diagnosis and agreed with you on a treatment plan will we proceed. Chiropractors in Kearny Mesa have long recognized that including patients as partners in their own healing promotes faster recovery and better overall health.
